  • In modern age of Indian rugs and carpet industry, hand loom knotting and hand tufting is the most common method of manufacturing rugs and carpets today for reasons of design, speed and cost. Created with use of hand-held tufting/looming tools, hand loomed and hand tufted carpets have reputation for being sturdy and wearing well over period of time. Several popular styles of these rugs make use of comfortable pile created by looming /tufting process. Base on materials use to produce tufted rugs is pre- woven cloth, usually canvas that provides a strong base and makes them much more economical than hand-knotted carpets while cotton used in hand loomed carpets as base materials in warp.
  • Recently a new technique has been developed in India particularly in Bhadohi region for manufacturing of durries which is called Jacquard durries. Jacquard durries weave on a special handloom which has unique design and manufacturing system and very fast production.

In recent years, handloom technology has been advanced in manufacturing of carpet and a new technique has been developed for weaving of durries which is knows as Jacquard Durries. These rugs are made using a hand-operated gun-like machine to shoot fibers onto the canvas stretched on a frame where pattern is traced with the help of pre designed mold.

 

The rugs is always tufted from back onto front. When all the yarn is punched into the pattern, a backing cloth/net is placed on the rug with high quality latex, to keep the fibers in place.
